Donna began painting in 1971 while her husband was stationed at Wright-Paterson AFB.  She joined the Officers' Wives Brush & Palette Group at the time and over the past 30+ years has painted with various groups all over the country.  She has received many awards and ribbons from juried art shows in various states.

Over the years, Donna's style and manner of painting have changed.  Originally, she painted with water media, gradually worked into pastel and later concentrated on oil painting.  Although she now works mostly in oil, she continues to enjoy the other media as well, especially pastel.

The goal behind Donna's paintings is to make ordinary everyday objects become interesting and create a mood or tell a story.  She also enjoys painting portraits, particularly of mature faces.  She is a realistic traditional style painter and always works to create a depth dimension in her paintings

Donna's work really began to take on new emphasis when she was introduced to Helen Van Wyk.  She studied with Helen for two summers until Helen's untimely death.  Today, Donna continues work in the Van Wyk manner.

Twelve years ago she began to teach painting using the Van Wyk approach.  She enjoys working with beginners and others, to open new concepts and techniques to those who are interested in what paint can do.

Donna has been a member of the  Art Guild at Fairfield Glade since 2000.  She has won awards and ribbons at the Guild's annual judged shows, including  Best of Show  in 2004 and 2006,  several First Place ribbons; as well as others.  She has also displayed her work at the Palace Theater, done demonstrations, and taught some classes for the Tansy painter's group.  She is at this time, teaching classes out of her home studio, and will continue to teach for the Art Guild.
