JEANI MILLER CREATES 'YOU' CENTERED ART CLASS
By Pam Lochmueller
Have you ever wished that you could change the subject matter in a drawing or painting class to something that you are drawing at home? Have you ever bogged down in the middle of a pastel or water color painting and needed expert advice in order to continue? Jeani Miller surmised that the answers to these questions would be “yes” for many of us and decided to develop a class to meet these needs.
This class will be called " Individual Studio Instruction". The class is intended to be an opportunity for the student to choose his own work but receive one-on-one mentoring. Instruction will revolve around the needs of the students enrolled. Their varied skill levels will allow the students to learn from each other as well as the instructor. Each class will begin with a short demonstration and instruction that has been suggested or needed by someone in the class. If no problems have arisen, Jeani will choose a demonstration that can help everyone like: Perception of edges, placing the subject on paper/canvas; The beauty of color - a demonstration of depth and color relationships; Shadows, value and light and how to make objects "pop" on the canvas; or Perspective and spatial relationships. Topics suggested by the students are more helpful, but these are some that could be explored because they relate to everyone’s artwork.
Jeani Miller’s four "Individual Studio Instruction" classes are scheduled on four Fridays: March 31, and April 7, 14, and 21 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon. Students will have the option of participating in one or more of the four classes and will pay on a per-class basis. The cost will be $24 per class for members and $30 per class for guests. As an example, if a student enrolls in all four classes, the total cost will be $96 for members and $120 for guests. Two additional classes may be scheduled on April 28 and May 5 if there is sufficient student interest.
